Why it exists

One missed press used to wreck the whole race.

Come off the sled, forget to hit lap, and every split after it lands one segment off. You only find out in the results. 8x8 Race was built so that never happens again.

A plain lap timerone press missed

8x8 Racethe watch asks

The watch asks: already at the next station?
01It asks before it's too late

Way over target? “Already at Sled Pull?” One press fixes it.

02It reads your stride

Running cadence stops at a station, or starts after one: the watch suggests NEXT.

03Undo is one button

Pressed too early? The top button takes it back, time kept.

04Review before saving

Every segment against plan, odd ones flagged, any boundary movable.

Built for race day. And every day before it.

Goals & smart pacing

Sub 60 to Sub 2:00, or just finish.

Pick a goal and it is split into a target for every run, station and transition, paced the way real athletes race. Lose time on the sled and the next runs re-pace so you still make it.

Personal bests

Chase yourself.

Your best time for every segment sits on the gauge as a white mark. Beat it and the watch says PB.

Ghost race

Race your last race.

Or your best one, or a friend's report link. Their splits become your targets.

Training

Sims, EMOM, AMRAP, compromised runs.

Half and quarter sims, relay legs, station intervals with auto rest, the PFT test with a suggested division. Repeat the last workout in two presses.

Doubles · weights · metronome

Every station, done right.

Doubles turns (you / partner) and your share of the work, category weights on every station, lap counters and a vibration rhythm for Wall Balls and the ergs.

FAQ

Good questions.

Which races is it for?

Hybrid fitness races with 8 × 1 km runs and 8 functional stations, in every category: Open and Pro, women and men, Doubles and relays. It is an independent app, not affiliated with any race organiser.

Does it count for training load and recovery?

Yes. The race is saved as a normal Garmin activity with heart rate, calories and a named lap for every segment, so Garmin Connect counts all of it.

Do I need my phone during the race?

No. Everything runs on the watch. The phone is only needed to open the report afterwards.

What if the app closes mid-race?

Open it again and it offers to continue the race where it was, with every split kept.

Can I set my own targets?

Yes: per run, station and transition in the Connect IQ app settings, or use a preset goal or a ghost.

Something not working?

Write to [email protected] with your watch model and what happened. Every message is read.

See you on the start line.
